In addition, he has many years of football coaching experience at Emporia State University and Saginaw Valley State University.
“Eric Klein brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his time on multiple college campuses,” said CBHS Athletic Director Mike Kelly. “He has coached at the highest level and led programs to bowl games and achieved tremendous training results. He possesses the character, passion and work ethic that make him a great fit for Christian Brothers.
“Those who have worked with Coach Klein have nothing but the highest praise for him personally and professionally,” he said. “He is well-respected and developed a great rapport with everyone during his visit. Our players and staff are thrilled to have him on board."
Klein graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and he later earned a Master of Science from Emporia State University in Kansas. "I became a strength coach to help in the development of young people; there is no better place than Christian Brothers High School to continue with my passion,” said Klein. “It is a school and athletics program with an excellent reputation, and I am truly excited to be a part of it. My family and I are excited to experience everything Memphis has to offer. It is certainly an exciting time for us."
Klein and his wife Allison have two daughters, Tagean (9) and Torin (6).

About Athletics at CBHS

The Athletic Department at Christian Brothers seeks to educate the whole person, not just the athlete. As an extension of the classroom, athletics at Christian Brothers seeks to instill Lasallian values on the playing fields, in the classroom and the community.

Competitive athletics are an important part of the educational process and experience. Students participate in an Athletic program that reflects the school's philosophy of diversity, continued growth and achievement, and the development of the individual's greatest potential. The values of sportsmanship, self-discipline and perseverance are often learned through interscholastic sports. Most importantly, Christian Brother’s athletic teams provide an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to learn the value of integrity, teamwork, cooperation and mutual respect.

Christian Brothers High School has a proud tradition in athletics. We expect our athletes, coaches and fans to represent our Christian Brothers community by displaying the highest standards of sportsmanship and self-discipline.

As a member of the TSSAA Division II-A, which consists of 11 schools throughout the entire state, Christian Brothers has more than 500 boys competing within 17 programs each year. Our student-athletes strive for excellence in their sports and compete hard. At the same time, they work to fulfill their potential in the classroom and to be leaders within our campus community. Athletics plays an important part in making our school a fun place to be. We have a lot of school spirit! Our student sections are recognized as being the Best in the area. We are currently working on options that you can purchase as a secondary policy if you wish.

NCAA Eligibility

The National Collegiate Athletic Association governs over 900 schools in three divisions and sponsors championships in over 20 sports. High school athletes who are being recruited by Division I or Division II colleges must meet the academic eligibility criteria of the NCAA. During senior year of high school the athlete must request that his high school transcript be sent to the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse for evaluation. The Clearinghouse will provide this information to colleges requesting the student's eligibility status. Visit the NCAA Eligibility Center for more information and resources for College-Bound Student-Athletes and their parents.
