Coach Luckett inducted into Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame

CBHS head basketball coach Bubba Luckett, with over 560 wins, five State Championship appearances, 42 players to play at the next level, and 36 years of helping shape the lives of young men in the classroom and on the basketball court, was inducted into the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony held on Monday, December 3, at the Memphis Hilton.

"What an honor it is to be selected to this group, which includes a number of people connected to CBHS," said Coach Luckett. "Our school and the players who have played for us over the years is the reason I was selected. I am very grateful."

Coach Luckett played at Christian Brothers High School (1975-1979), where he is still the all time leading scorer. He played on full scholarship at the University of Memphis (Memphis State at the time) from 1979-1983 with notable teammates, Keith Lee, Andre Turner, and Doom Haynes. The Tigers were ranked number 1 in the country his senior year. He came to CBHS as assistant coach under Charlie Leonard at CBHS from 1983-1990, helping lead the Brothers to a State Title in 1987. He became head coach in 1990. Since then, has accumulated over 560 wins (top 5 in active coaches in Tennessee) and has taken teams to the State Championship game in 2004, 2008, 2010, and 2015. As head coach, has led the Brothers to 10 Regional Championships. He has coached 42 players who went on to play college basketball. This is Coach Luckett’s 28th year as head coach at Christian Brothers High School.
