CBHS student wins state math competition; four students among top finishers at CBU math competition

Junior Alan Black won the state math contest, earning prize money and a nice trophy for his efforts. He is only the second CBHS student to win the contest outright, according to Shawn Morgan, math department chairman. 47 CBHS students competed in the 62nd annual Tennessee Math Teachers Association (TMTA) State Mathematics Contest, held April 10 at Christian Brothers University. Winners from CBHS are junior Alan Black, 1st Place - TMTA State Algebra 2 Contest; sophomore Luke Hubbard, 2nd Place - TMTA Regional Geometry Contest; 2018 graduate Alexander Carayiannis, 3rd Place TMTA Regional Statistics Contest; and senior Wes Jackson, 1st Place TMTA Regional Calculus Contest.
