Admissions Process

Our campus is alive with activity year-round so whether you are well-acquainted with the school, or you're just getting to know us, we welcome you to take a tour. During a student's eighth-grade year, there are several opportunities to see everything we have to offer.

• Partner School Visit Days, which take place in the fall, are coordinated for boys that attend schools that traditionally feed into CBHS.
• Discovery Days, also scheduled in the fall, are available for boys who attend other middle schools throughout the Mid-South.

Parents are encouraged to attend these visit days with their sons. If you want more information or have any questions for our Admissions team, please fill out our Inquiry Form. If your son attends one of our partner schools, you will be notified when your school's official visit has been scheduled.

Online applications for the regular decision period must be completed by December 1st of the eighth grade year. Completion of the Admissions Application serves as registration for the Placement Test.

All rising 9th-grade applicants are required to take a placement test at CBHS. The primary test date for the Class of 2030 is Saturday, December 13, 2025. 

Scores from our placement test help our school:

• ensure that, upon enrollment, the incoming student is placed in classes that will both engage and challenge him academically,
• wholly evaluate the student's school records, and
• determine merit-based scholarship qualification*

If extended time is needed, a psychoeducational evaluation from a licensed professional must be submitted to the Admissions Office by December 6. Late applicants will be scheduled for a second test date on January 10, 2026.*

*A student must test on the primary test date or make-up test date to be considered for a merit-based scholarship.

Each applicant will be interviewed by a member of our faculty or staff during the month of January. Applicants will receive details about particular dates and times following the Placement Test.

Families interested in need-based financial aid must apply online through FACTS, our third-party partner for financial aid assessment.

The deadline for incoming freshmen to submit the application is December 5, 2025. Please note that all necessary tax documents must be uploaded at the time of submission. A partial application will hold up the process. Any information that is found to be inaccurate on the FACTS application can result in adjusted financial assistance. 

Financial Aid applications for the 2026-2027 School Year will be available in October 2025. 

After careful evaluation of placement test scores, other standardized test scores, middle school grades, conduct reports, attendance records, teacher recommendations, student writing samples, and following the student's admissions interview, qualified applicants will receive an acceptance letter and enrollment contract in February. Space permitting, late applicants will be notified in later rounds.

A $325 deposit ($225 non-refundable enrollment fee and $100 tuition deposit) is due with the student's signed enrollment contract on or before March 1, 2026.

The student’s place in the class will be secured once the school has received the contract and deposit, and the class scheduling process will begin soon thereafter.
