Become a Brothers' Boy

List of 7 items.

  • 1. Inquire Online

By completing our online Admission Inquiry, boys of any age can join our mailing list for access to CBHS news, invitations to campus events, and information on our popular summer programs for elementary and middle school boys.
  • 2. Visit our Campus

The CBHS community is always on the move, so whether you are well-acquainted or have just learned about us, your family is always welcome on our campus. During the eighth-grade year, there are several opportunities to see what we have to offer. Partner School Visit Days are scheduled for boys coming from schools that traditionally feed into CBHS. Shadow Days are available for boys coming from other middle schools. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend these visit days with their sons. Register online for a Shadow Day or contact Natasha Sublette at 901-261-4938 to set up your family's campus visit. (If your son attends one of our traditional partner schools, you will be notified of the date of that school's official visit.)
  • 3. Apply Online

Online applications for the regular decision period must be completed by December 2 of the eighth grade year. (Please note that the $85 fee for the Admissions Application does not include the cost of the PreACT Placement Test. If your son will not be taking the PreACT at his current middle school, you will need to register him for the test here at CBHS. See information below about the Placement Test.)

    Apply now.
  • 4. Placement Test

All applicants are required to take the PreACT as our placement test. The primary test date for the Class of 2024 is Saturday, December 7, 2019, here at CBHS. Middle schools that administer the PreACT in the eighth grade will share those scores with us for their students who apply to CBHS. Therefore, those students will not need to take the test at CBHS. Applicants who will not take the PreACT at their middle school must register for and take the test at CBHS. The registration fee for the test is $20.

    Test scores serve three purposes:
    • determine qualification for merit-based scholarships (must test at CBHS on the primary test date or must have taken the PreACT at his current middle school in December)
    • contribute to the overall evaluation of the applicant record
    • allow us to ensure that, upon enrollment, your son is placed in appropriate classes.

If extended time is needed, appropriate psycho-educational documentation from a licensed professional must be submitted to the Admissions Office by December 2. Late applicants will be scheduled for a second test date in January.
  • 5. Applicant Interview

Each applicant will be interviewed by a member of the CBHS faculty or staff during the month of January. Applicants will receive details about particular dates and times following the Placement Test.
  • 6. Tuition Assistance Application (if applicable)

Those interested in need-based financial aid must apply online through our third-party financial need analysis partner, FACTS Grant and Aid. The deadline for entering freshman to complete the application is January 8. Please use your most up-to-date financial information when filling out the FACTS. For entering freshman supporting tax documents (W-2’s and federal returns) can be those filed from the previous calendar year. Any information that is found to be inaccurate on the FACTS application can result in adjusted financial assistance
  • 7. Enrollment Contract and Tuition Deposit

After careful evaluation of entrance exam scores, other standardized test scores, middle school grades, conduct reports, attendance records, teacher recommendations, student writing samples, and the admission interview, qualified applicants will receive an acceptance letter and enrollment contract in mid February. Space permitting, late applicants will be notified in later rounds. The executed contract (completed online) and $415 deposit ($215 non-refundable enrollment fee + $200 tuition deposit) are due March 1, 2020 - once received, the student’s spot in the class will be secured, and the class scheduling process can begin.
*Late Applications (rolling admission) Those who miss the December 2 application deadline, and thus the primary placement test date, will be scheduled for a second test date on January 11, 2020. We institute a rolling admission policy for late applicants, which means that after the first round, late applicants are evaluated and contracts are extended to qualified candidates as space permits.

Students admitted to CBHS must begin classes at the start of the school year in August, or at the start of the second semester in January. Requests for admittance at any other time during the school year will be considered only if warranted by circumstances (such as family relocation to the Memphis area).
