Five was the magic number. After the Brother's were
blown out by Bartlett
on Sunday, the team needed to string together 5 wins in a row in order
to
claim its' 5th straight Junior Varsity Championship. After getting
back to
the basics of pitching and defense, the Brothers ripped off 4 wins
heading
into tonight's championship. Number 6 ECS was defeated 4-1. Number 2
Houston was dropped 4-2. Number 3 Collierville was beaten 5-0.
Number 4
Bartlett was survived 12-11 in 10 innings. The stage was now set for
a
classic final. Seth Walker would avenge the earlier defeat by
throwing an
awesome game. Walker went the distance while striking out 8, walking
only 1
and scattering 5 hits. Walker also provided a defensive lift by
fielding
his position. He and ended the game with 4 assists and 2 put
outs. John Goode and Blake Forsythe banged out 2 hits apiece while
Josh Shelton and Will Shorter had base knocks that scored the
remaining runs. Shelton and David Clayton were once again, awesome up
the middle and stopped the Panthers rallies with solid defensive
work. The Brothers finish at 32-5 on the
season and champions once again. GREAT JOB BROTHERS!!! |

The Brothers stayed alive by beating the Panthers 12-11
in a classic battle that lasted 10 innings. Pitcher Drew Brooks, who
was hurt all year, came in to provide the team 2 innings of pitching
relief at a time that was crucial towards the team's ultimate win.
Brooks provided a lift by maintaining composure after the Brother's
squandered an early
9-2 lead. Brooks gave way to John Michael Skinner who went the final
4 innings allowing no runs, only 2 hits and one strikeout. Skinnner
picked up his first win on the season and did so by just blowing gas
from the hill. Offensively, the Brothers were led by Ryan Robertson's
3 hits and 4 RBI's. Blake Forsythe, Josh Shelton and Skinner each
added 2 hits and 2 RBI's respectively. Tyler Hanna's sacrifice fly in
the 10th scored the winning run. Forsythe provided the difference
behind the dish as well by throwing out 3 Bartlett runners on the base
paths. It was not even close and that would prove to be significant
as Bartlett could only hope to out hit the
Brothers. David Clayton also added 5 assists and 2 put outs with no
errors. The Brothers stayed alive and will now have to beat Bartlett
in a winner take all game on Friday night. |

Offense and pitching not what it should have been, and
defensive errors and Bartlett hammered the Brothers by a final of

The Brothers drilled the Wolves of Cordova last night
11-1 behind a good pitching effort by Clay Roland and Will Duffel.
Roland ran his pitching record to 2-0 on the season. Offensively, the
Wave was led by the entire team's hustle on the base paths and John
Michael Skinner's quality at bats using a variety of bunts. Solid
defense was played by catcher Blake Forsythe and third baseman Will
Shorter. |

came on to get the final out and put down a last inning rally by MUS
for his first save. The offense was led by David Clayton's 2 hits
