School earns 2013 Lifeblood Group of the Year award

CBHS has supported LifeBlood by hosting blood drives for 25 years.  We always have strong participation from our students, and donations have steadily risen over the years.  LifeBlood used to bring one mobile unit.  Now they set up in the P.E. gym and bring 12 chairs!  Religion teacher Gerry Taulman has been involved with the drives here for 18 years and has been the sole coordinator for the last 10 years.  LifeBlood, in awarding CBHS the 2013 Education Group of the Year winner, said “She has perfected blood drive organization and provides one of our best examples of how to run a high school blood drive.”  This year we increased the number of drives from 2 to 3 to maximize the number of donations which resulted in an increase of 46%.  The administration, faculty and students are very supportive and encourage parents to donate at the donor center.
