Founder’s Day Mass celebrated at CBHS by Memphis Bishop J. Terry Steib

Christian Brothers High School celebrated Founder’s Day April 7 with a special Mass celebrated in the school gymnasium by Bishop J. Terry Steib, S.V.D. He was assisted by Deacons Walt Bolton and Bill Lifsey. Concelebrants were Msgr. John McArthur, AFSC, (CBHS ’66), pastor of St. Louis Church, Msgr. Val Handwerker, AFSC, (CBHS ’66), rector, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and Father Francis Muriithi, CBU Brothers’ Chaplain. The Mass, celebrated for the entire CBHS student body, commemorates the founding of the Brothers of the Christian Schools by St. John Baptist de LaSalle in 1680. Sixteen Brothers from CBHS and CBU renewed their public vows during the Liturgy.  Brother Joel McGraw, F.S.C.,  was recognized for his 50 years as a Christian Brother as was Brother Mark Gubbels , F.S.C., who is celebrating 60 years as a Brother. Thank you all of the  Brothers, Affiliates, guests, and the entire CBHS student body who made this day very special. What a great kick-off for the school's celebration of Founder's Week.
