CBHS Latin students take home fourth place in statewide competition

On April 6-8, CBHS Latin teacher Richard Branyan and Dennis Dickerson took 14 CBHS Latin students to Clarksville, Tennessee to attend the Tennessee Junior Classical League Latin Convention. Thirty-seven schools from across the state attended. CBHS competed in academic testing, as well as the Certamen, a Jeopardy-style competition where teams of four answer questions on grammar, mythology, Roman history, and literature.

In the advanced level Certamen, the team of Riggs Markham, Gus Kraus, Tyler Donnelly, and Matthias Fagan won a third-place trophy. Winning third place in the novice level certamen was the team of Alan Black, Simon Shah, Will Donaldson, and Andrew McLaren. Winning ribbons for various academic tests were Riggs Markham, Andrew McLaren, Jonathan Forcherio, Tyler Donnelly, and Alan Black. Markham won a trophy for being in the top ten of overall point winners, and the CBHS boys as a group brought home the fourth-place trophy for overall school points.
