Religion teacher Gerry Taulman honored as Lasallian Educator of Year

RELIGION TEACHER GERRY TAULMAN HONORED AS 2016 DISTINGUISHED LASALLIAN EDUCATOR FOR THE MDWEST DISTRICT

At the 43rd annual Huether Lasallian Conference held in Chicago, Illinois this past weekend, CBHS religion teacher Gerry Taulman received the 2016 Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award. She received the honor at a Nov. 19 ceremony joining others who were awarded for exemplary service as a Lasallian educator, following the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers, and fostering Gospel values in the lives of students, faculty, and staff. The award was presented by Mark John Freund, Executive Director, Office for Lasallian Education for the Christian Brothers Conference and Dr. Scott Kier, Superintendent of Lasallian Education for the Midwest District.

Taulman, who has taught religion at CBHS for 20 years, has assumed responsibility for many outreach projects that exemplify our Lasallian charism. Her spirit of service, gratitude, and humility are a model for all of us at CBHS. Her work with the mission collections, the Child Discovery Center, LifeBlood, as well as special collections for local nursing home and soup kitchen, helps spread the Gospel and inspires others to meet those needs. Relating to each student and helping him develop his own spiritual life, Taulman’s dedication speaks to her commitment as a Lasallian teacher.
