Band participates in Nashville concert clinic; visits music sites

On February 21-22, the Christian Brothers High School band traveled to Nashville for the Belmont Invitational Concert Band Clinic. On Sunday, the Band took a tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame. On the tour, the students viewed the Sam Phillips exhibit which included a display on Bill Justice, 1944 Christian Brothers band graduate, Hall of Fame member, and Sun Studio recording artist. After the tour, the Jazz Band, Walnut Groove, recorded at RCA Studio B, the famed studio where Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins, and many more made some of their biggest hits. After a night at the Opryland Hotel, the band participated at the invitation-only concert clinic at Belmont University. Christian Brothers was only one of three bands in the state of Tennessee to be invited. Clinicians included Dr. Krauss from Belmont University and Dr. Ambrose from Georgia State University. The band received many good comments and critiques. Audience members included band presidents Kyle Reisedge (2010) and Will McGee (2011). - by Nick Ireland
