CBHS hires Thomas McDaniel as new head football coach

Christian Brothers High School has hired Mr. Thomas McDaniel as their head football coach. Coach McDaniel comes to CBHS after serving as the head coach at Murfreesboro-Oakland High School since 2008. In his seven seasons at the helm for Oakland, Coach McDaniel’s teams earned an overall record of 68-20 and made several appearances in the state playoffs, winning the state championship in Class 5A in 2008.

"We are excited to have Coach McDaniel lead our football program into the future," said Mike Kelly, CBHS Athletic Director. "Thomas McDaniel has worked hard to become one of the elite coaches in the state of Tennessee. He is a proven, successful coach and has done an exceptional job of developing young men as football players, students and citizens. We believe that Coach McDaniel’s high energy and passion will be a great fit in the Christian Brothers community.”

Coach McDaniel will be moving to Memphis and getting to work at CBHS quickly. “The history, tradition and brotherhood that Christian Brothers High School offers is unrivaled,” said McDaniel. “Being chosen for such a wonderful opportunity is extremely humbling. Like all areas of our school, the football program will work tirelessly to achieve excellence.”

Coach McDaniel currently serves as the president of the Tennessee Football Coaches’ Association and he graduated from Tennessee Tech in 2001 and he earned a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Bethel University in 2014.

“We look forward to welcoming Tommy and his family to the CBHS community,” said Chris Fay, CBHS Principal. “He is respected across the state as a coach and his energy and passion will serve our boys well. He is a master teacher and an outstanding football coach and he will be a great addition to our faculty.”

Christian Brothers High School is a private, Catholic, non-discriminatory ecumenical school serving 870 young men grades nine through 12.
