Week in Review - NHS induction, Distinguished Alumnus, WINGS presentation

On Tuesday, October 28, 36 seniors were inducted into the Stephen O'Malley Chapter of the National Honor Society in a nighttime ceremony held in Heffernan Hall.

Dr. Regis Haid '74,  Medical Director of the Piedmont Spine Center and Neuroscience Service Line, Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, received the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award. This was presented by Brother Chris Englert, FSC, and Kenny Myers '80, President, CBHS Alumni Association, at the NHS induction on Oct. 28.

The joint CBHS-CBU STEMM Co-LaB presented a workshop, STEMM Education: A Methodology for All Disciplines to45 area teachers Oct. 31 at Christian Brothers University. Dr. Angela Moran from the U.S. Naval Academy was the keynote speaker. Others host of collaborative sessions included Kate Ayers (pictured), St. Jude Hospital, Ian Rubin de la Borbolla of Mibio Medical, Keith Brooks, Assistant Principal of STEAM Academy, and Dr. Justin  Whitmer of CBHS.

The CBHS football team defeated St. Benedict High School 26-14 on Oct. 31. The Brothers have secured a first round bye and will host a playoff game on Friday, Nov. 14.

Students from CBHS, St. Benedict, and St. Agnes presented a check to Keri Burnette (2nd from left)of the Wings Foundation during halftime of the  Oct. 31 CBHS-SBA football game.  The students, all seniors and Student Council Presidents are (from left) Nick Azar (CBHS), Kyle Van Frank (St. Benedict), and Megan Wilson  (St. Agnes).

Congratulations to Ellis Huey for his 2nd place finish in the sophomore division at this month's mountain bike race in Gallatin, TN. Seven Brothers Boys are competing in CBHS’s first season as part of the TN High School Mountain Bike League. Their final race, the state championships, will be on November 2 in Sewanee, TN. Go, Brothers!
